READ THIS
These adapters
do not just screw onto your zoom lens and you are ready to
shoot. The rear of zoom adapters have to be adjusted by
a professional and this work can take days, weeks or months.
Some times you have to make a different 69mm ID universal ring
to fit the adapter onto your zoom lens. Note in the above
picture of the Shiga (5); That adapter has the 69mm ID ring
and the stainless steel PL mount...it is complete. The Kowa
above (6) has neither, but at least the glass capsule is in the
aluminum sub-mount. (7) is the glass capsule only.
The 69mm ID ring that
screws onto the Cooke or Angenieux zoom lens can vary slightly and
may or may not fit onto your lens. After you conquer the metal
mechanical fit, you then deal with the x-y-z adjustments to make the
adapter give a sharp image. This is 2/100th of a millimeter
work that can drive the best Technicians crazy. Once you get a
good image, you nail polish the elements shut so they can't move
during shipment. This adjusted adapter will probably only work
on this particular zoom or telephoto lens and not even be
interchangeable with other lenses of the same manufacturer.
I have given adapters
to Techs and expected to get a finished product in two weeks.
One year and 25 phone calls later, I take the adapters back and look
for someone else to do the job. KEN

"The 35mm Anamorphic format gave our low budget feature film,
Boricua's Bond big picture look. The 2.35 aspect ratio lenses made
the picture look like we spent millions. The producers were ecstatic
when they viewed the first dailies.
I can truly say that when the scope footage was transferred to Beta
SP 2.35 letterbox it looked outstanding. The scope image was a lot
sharper and richer than normal 35mm because scope uses twice as much
of the negative area compared to normal 35 letterboxed. When the
Beta SP master tapes were sent to the Avid for editing and then the
demo tapes and trailers were transferred back to Beta SP, it looked
even more amazing.
The 2.35 wide screen look of the picture contributed to the decision
by October Films to distribute Boricua's Bond"

 The
above Anamorphic zoom price list is offered as a guide when trying
to establish used buying prices. As a general rule, used late model
Cooke and Angenieux equipment in good to excellent condition
typically sells for 40%-50% of new list prices.
For older equipment there is an established used price dictated by
actual selling prices in trade magazines and from personal
experience. There are many variables that establish the selling
price of motion picture equipment. This is only a guide.
I have used $ 1,500 as a best case estimate of the price of mounting
the Anamorphic adapter into the neutral PL/BNCR sub mount. The
actual price could be as much as $ 1,000 higher. Re-engraving the
barrels may be $ 4,000-5,000 as the entire lens must be disassembled
and rebuilt.
